It’s beautiful, this “New Year” promise we have invented. The renewed enthusiasm for possibilities, hope, success, love, joy…. All represented with a count down and a kiss.
We need these artificial references.
Take deadlines for example. We need them. It gives us perimeters. It’s a way to finally end one project and begin a new with a clean white blank sheet:
I need to earn enough money to pay the bill by the 30th. I made an appointment to get my hair cut the day before the wedding. The brakes on the car will need to be replaced to pass the inspection. I can’t get the plates renewed without it.
Nothing would be accomplished without our deadlines. Real, manufactured or forced upon us, they are a good thing.
So too, is this day. A day to consider the delights, the potential, the “wipe the slate clean” possibilities, the “pick up the unfinished project” renewed enthusiasm that a new dawn brings.
Please make yourself some goals. Some dead lines. Because I promise you, 2015 will whip by in a frenzy whether you accomplish anything or not.
Fill this space with things that swell your chest.
Happy New Year, Sweetheart.
Namaste, my friends.
